Shoe Rack as per Vastushastra

While planning the interior of the house, it is necessary to have a proper place for the Shoe rack.

• Shoe rack can be kept at any location except North to East.
• Priority should be given to keep this rack in West/North West.
• A difficulty arises when the entrance of the house is in the North to East, as it is customary to place the Shoe rack near the entrance. Locating the same outside the entrance will be ideal,  if the security aspects of the house permits such an arrangement.
• It is not practical to keep the Shoe rack in North West if the entrance of the house is from the North East. Under such circumstances, there is no other alternative and the rack is to be kept near the entrance but in the North West direction.
• If a showcase has been planned in North East near the entrance, the Shoe rack can be placed in the same.
• If the entrance of the house is in North East, it is essential to plan the abode of God in the North East direction. At the same time, the shoe rack has also to be placed near the entrance.  Under such circumstances, it is necessary to retain the sanctity of the prayer shrine by maintaining a suitable gap between the two.

Auspicious and inauspicious effects of West Direction

• Elevation in the West direction is positive. This enhances the strength and reputation of the male members of family.
• Location of the bed room of elder son, storage, toilet, dining hall, staircase and septic tank in the West is considered ideal.
• Placing of garbage bin at an elevation in West is positive.
• Location of toilet in West direction is beneficial.
• It is beneficial to have overhead tank at a height in the West.
• A door in the West towards West of – North West is beneficial.
• Staircase in the West direction is positive.
• Construction of floor along western wall will ensure prosperity and happiness.
• Office in the West direction is good as second option.
• It is beneficial to have garage, vehicle parking in the West direction.
• It is ideal to locate septic tank in the West direction.
• Dining hall in the West direction is beneficial.
• Staircase at an elevated level in West over the house is auspicious.
• Construction of house at a lower level than the street in West direction is harmful.
• Letting of space on rent in Western direction is not beneficial.
• While sharing or dividing a plot, always retains the West portion and give the portion in the Eastern side.
• While dividing a property, the elder brother should retain the Western portion while the younger one should possess the Eastern portion.
• A slope in the West indicates progress of the females who ultimately become the owners however for males it is not so.
• Vacant space in the West is harmful.
• Location of well or pond in the West is indicative of death.
• Outlet of septic tank or waste water in West will result in mild negative effects.
• Western entrance facing South West invites many troubles.
• Western entrance facing North West can result in major illness.
• A verandah in West direction can cause many problems.
• It is harmful if there is electric motor or meter in the West.
• It is harmful if the roof of the house slopes towards the West.
• Location of a T Junction, pit, water, well in front of West entrance is extremely harmful and gives painful experiences.
• If West direction in Vastu is lower than North West direction, it is indicative of too many obstacles.
• A kitchen in West leads to wastage of wealth.
• Staircase in the West at a level lower than the house is not good.
• Construction at a level higher than the road in the West is not auspicious.

Vastushastra of Hotel

• A general tea stall, refreshment hotel, Lunch Home or General Lodge falls in the Category of most essential services.  So it is beneficial to have their entrance from one of the five auspicious directions and preferably in north to east.
• All other kinds of hotels like Family Restaurants permit rooms, 3-5-7 Star Hotels etc. fall in the category of luxury.  Their entrance should be in the south or southwest direction.
• The Reception, information desk, VIP Lounge, Open passage, waiting lobby, Swimming Pool, Underground Water Tank, Cafeteria, Garden Restaurant, Open Lawn, Special Rooms, Special Suites and lift should be in northeast to ensure light weight and more open space in this region.
• In the southeast direction there should be kitchen, centralized air conditioning system, electric main switch, transformer, heaters geysers, boilers and gas cylinders.  The arrangement for different kinds of restaurants, a kitchen or pantry on each floor in a big hotel, staff quarters, parking and storage if necessary should be made in this direction.  This direction should accommodate many rooms and as many persons as possible.
• In the South West direction, there should be customer service, Office of the main Officer or top Management, the building with maximum number of floors, stair case, overhead tank, maximum storage, maximum rooms and an arrangement to accommodate as many customers as possible.
• In the North West direction there should be an arrangement of following items according to the availability of space and floor, cleaning arrangement, room service, toilet blocks, telephone and other communication system, shops for various items, display of special items of a hotel & services, gymnasium, Club House, entertainment, Conference Hall, Buffet or banquet, laundry, Marketing Department, Storage, Stair Case, Sewage System etc.
• At the time of setting up of a hotel it is beneficial to plan the basic aspects of a hotel from the vastushastra point of view – e.g. selection of plot, shape, roads around the plot, compound gate, position of building within the plot, water system, electrical system, entrance, prayer room etc.
• In the hotel industry, the location of the different types of services to be provided can be decided with its particular connection to the specific element in vastushastra.
• ATM facility should be located in the north.
• Cyber café, shops dealing in luxurious or costly items & attractive items should be in northwest.
• The main parking arrangement should be in northwest direction.
• One of the signboards of the hotel should be in the northwest while the second board should be in the southwest.
• The storage of cooking gas cylinders should be in the southeast direction.
• The centralized air conditioning arrangement should be made in southeast direction only.
